Roads and landmarks around Lee’s Summit in Jackson and Cass Counties

Lee’s Summit is on the south-east side of the metro, and it is spread out in a way the northern towns are not. It is crossed by I-470, US-50 and Route 291 rather than a single interstate, so a call there starts with which of those three highways you are on. Route 291 links it straight back to us.

Because the city is spread across several corridors, the road you are on tells us more than the address does. Lead with the highway and the nearest exit.

Towing in Lee’s Summit, inside the I-470, US-50 and Route 291 triangle

I-470, US-50 and Route 291 meet one another in Lee’s Summit and form a triangle of highways around the center of the city. Downtown, roughly ten blocks by ten, sits beside US-50 on the south and south-west and Route 291 on the east, where the two have an interchange. I-470 meets US-50 to the north-west and Route 291 to the north-east, and north of downtown, where Route 291 meets I-470, is the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport. Commercial, industrial and mixed-use areas line all three highways.

The city borders Kansas City to the west and north-west, Independence to the north and Greenwood to the south-east, and its north-west boundary follows the Little Blue River. Damming the Little Blue in 1985 created Longview Lake, where the Bethany Falls limestone under the city leaves bluffs, and Lake Jacomo, Raintree Lake and Lake Winnebago are among the reservoirs in and around it. On a lake road, name the lake and the nearest park entrance or cross street.

Car and semi towing in Lee’s Summit

US-50 spurs off I-470 at the north-west interchange, runs south-east to Route 291 and then turns east into Lake Lotawana, and US-40 briefly crosses the city at its northern border with Independence. A car, pickup or van stuck on any of them gets roadside help or a rollback flatbed from Liberty. A semi or loaded straight truck is towed by the heavy wrecker, though air, tire and electrical faults may be within reach of the mobile service truck where the truck stopped.

Towing in Lee’s Summit: common questions

Do you tow as far south as Lee’s Summit?

Yes, and further south than that: Belton, Raymore and Peculiar in Cass County are inside our service area too. We run Lee’s Summit 24 hours a day, mainly along I-470, US-50 and Route 291. Call and we will give you an honest arrival time for exactly where you are.

Can you do heavy-duty towing in Lee’s Summit?

Yes. We run heavy, medium and light duty everywhere we cover, including recovery and winch-outs. Lee’s Summit is spread across several corridors rather than gathered around one, so the road you are on tells us more than the street address does — lead with I-470, US-50, Route 291 or Route 150 and the nearest exit, then the weight class and whether the unit is loaded.
