Mobile truck and trailer repair in Liberty, Missouri

Titan Tow & Repair is based in Liberty, MO, and we dispatch from our yard at 2751 Liberty Landing Rd., so the service truck starts its run inside the city. We fix air and brake faults, electrical and lighting, batteries, cooling, tires and trailer problems where the unit is standing, 24 hours a day.

A breakdown in Liberty is the one call where the service truck is already in town. That takes the distance out of the decision, so the question is only about the fault: whether it can be fixed where the unit sits, or whether it has to be towed.

Corridors and trouble spots

Liberty mobile truck repair, corridor by corridor

The I-35 exits at Route 152 and Route 291

Exits 16 and 17 are where a truck with a warning light gets off, and US-69 runs with I-35 through both of them. A unit that made it down the ramp is in a far better place to be worked on than one stopped on the mainline — there is room to park the service truck, light to work by and no live lane at your elbow. If yours will still move that far safely, say so on the phone and we will meet it at the top of the ramp instead of on the shoulder.

Fleet and contractor yards in town

Plenty of Liberty trucks never leave Clay County: dump bodies, service trucks, box vans and trailers that sit in a yard overnight and are wanted at seven the next morning. They fail differently from long-haul units. Batteries that will not hold after a cold weekend, air bled down out of the tanks, corroded grounds and dead marker lamps — small faults that stop a truck being legal to move rather than able to move, and all of them worth a call before the crew is standing around.

The Liberty Triangle and the Route 152 corridor

Route 152 comes into town at I-35 exit 16 on the southwest side of the Triangle and finishes at Route 291 on the southeast corner, and most of the commercial traffic between those two points is box trucks, straight trucks and delivery vans rather than class 8. A medium-duty unit dead at a store dock or in a retail lot has no shoulder and very little room, so the first thing we work out is whether it can be made to move at all before anything else gets decided.

When it cannot be fixed where it stands

A service body is not a shop, and some faults cannot be put right where the unit is standing. When that is the answer, the move is still a short one: our yard on Liberty Landing Rd. is inside the city, so we can tow the unit there for you to collect at any hour, or take it straight to your own shop or a dealer on the same phone call. Engine internals, transmissions and anything that needs a lift are specialist shop work, and we say so on the phone rather than after two hours on scene.

Mobile truck repair on US-69, Route 33 and Route 291 in Liberty

US-69 comes across the north of the metro through Riverside, Gladstone and Claycomo, joins I-35 at Pleasant Valley and runs with it for about seven miles. Where it leaves the interstate at Liberty it picks up Route 33 straight away and heads north-east out of the north-east corner of town; at Route B in rural Liberty the two part, Route 33 bearing north-north-east for Kearney and US-69 staying roughly parallel to I-35. Off the interstate, the road, your direction and the nearest crossroad or lettered route place the service truck better than a street address.

Route 291 is the other way in. North of the Route 152 end at West Kansas Street it runs alongside I-35 and US-69, crosses them at an interchange with Church Road (Route A) just beyond, and finishes at I-435 on the way to Kansas City International Airport. A unit with an air, electrical, battery or tire fault along any of these roads is roadside work for the service truck; one that has to move goes behind the heavy wrecker, covered on heavy-duty towing in Liberty.

Mobile trailer repair

Most trailer faults do not stop a trailer moving. They stop it being legal to move, which is worse — the load sits while the paperwork says it cannot go anywhere.

Mobile tire service

A blown tire is the most common thing that stops a truck, and the one most often fixed on the shoulder. We bring the tire to you rather than the truck to a shop.

Liberty mobile truck repair questions

Where does your mobile diesel repair truck come from when I call from Liberty?

From our yard at 2751 Liberty Landing Rd., which is inside Liberty on the east side of town, just off Route 291 near the Route 210 junction. Our mobile service runs from there, so a Liberty call is the one with no drive in front of it. Tell us where you are sitting and what the truck is doing, and you will get an honest time for your exact location rather than a stock answer.

My work truck will not start in a Liberty yard in the morning — do you come out to fleets?

Yes. A unit that sat through a cold weekend often has two problems at once: a battery that no longer holds enough to turn a cold diesel over, and air that has bled out of the tanks overnight so the brakes will not release even once it fires. We test and replace batteries, alternators and starters on site and chase the leak that drained the air rather than just topping it up. Tell us how many units are down, because more than one in the same yard changes how we load the truck.

My truck has a warning light on I-35 at Liberty — should I pull off at the exit or stop on the shoulder?

If the truck is still making air and still steering and braking normally, and the exit is close, getting off at Route 152 or Route 291 is almost always the better place to be worked on: room to park, light, and no traffic going past your elbow. If it is losing air, smoking, overheating or handling oddly, stop while you still have the choice, get clear of the live lane and put the triangles out. Call either way and tell us which exit or which direction you are facing, and we will come to whichever one you ended up at.
