A loaded tractor-trailer is not a bigger car. It needs a rated wrecker, a rated operator and a plan before anything gets hooked. That is what we send.

By city

Heavy-duty towing where you need it

Kansas City

Kansas City is a freight city before it is anything else, and a heavy call here is usually an interstate call in traffic. Where the unit sits decides everything about how it comes out.

Heavy-duty towing in Kansas City

Liberty

This is home. The yard is inside the city, so a Liberty call does not start with a drive — and a vehicle can be dropped to us or collected at any hour.

Heavy-duty towing in Liberty

Kansas City, KS

The state line is the only thing about this side of the metro that looks simple on a map. Which agency runs the scene, which number you dial and where the mile markers start all change the moment a truck stops in Wyandotte County.

Heavy-duty towing in Kansas City, KS

St. Joseph

St. Joseph is the top of the run, not another metro suburb, and a call up here is a real drive for us. That is exactly why describing the unit accurately matters more here than anywhere else we cover — we would far rather get it right on the phone than arrive with the wrong truck.

Heavy-duty towing in St. Joseph

Oak Grove

From Route 7 in Blue Springs, I-70 is down to two lanes each way, and at Oak Grove it leaves Jackson County for gently rolling country. A tractor-trailer that stops in a lane out there has shut half its side of the interstate, so on an Oak Grove call we ask where the rig is sitting before we ask what it is.

Heavy-duty towing in Oak Grove

Topeka

Topeka is where I-70 turns into a toll road on its way east, and where the interstate squeezes through downtown on a viaduct while I-470 loops around the south side. Which of those roads a truck stopped on decides who runs the scene and which way the wrecker comes in.

Mobile trailer repair

Most trailer faults do not stop a trailer moving. They stop it being legal to move, which is worse — the load sits while the paperwork says it cannot go anywhere.

Winch-outs & recovery

Bad rigging wrecks loads and hurts people. Recovery is the part of this job where training is the whole difference.

Heavy-duty towing questions

How much does heavy-duty towing cost in Kansas City?

Titan Tow & Repair prices heavy-duty towing per job, not off a flat menu, because it depends on the truck that has to be sent, how far it runs, whether the unit is loaded and whether recovery work is needed. Call (816) 888-8732 and we will quote your job before we roll.

Can you tow a loaded semi trailer without the tractor or unloading it?

Usually yes, on both counts. Our heavy wreckers move loaded semi trailers without the tractor and without unloading the freight, provided the trailer can be made safe to travel: brakes released, lights working, tires and wheel ends sound and the landing gear fully up. If the load has shifted or the trailer is damaged, we will tell you on scene whether it has to be transferred first.

Do you do heavy recovery, not just towing?

Yes. We handle winch-outs, uprighting, jackknifed tractors and load-shift recovery with WreckMaster-certified operators and rated rigging. Recovery is a separate skill from towing and we staff it that way — a tow is about moving a unit that is already sitting right, and a recovery is about getting it there without adding damage. The two things that decide the plan are how the unit is lying and whether it is loaded, so tell us both when you call, and send a photo if it is safe to take one.

Is a wrecker service the same thing as towing?

In everyday use, yes — a wrecker is the truck, and "wrecker service" is what people in this part of Missouri usually call towing. The distinction that actually matters is not the word but the class of truck. A light-duty wrecker or a flatbed handles cars and pickups; a semi tractor, a loaded trailer or a bus needs a heavy wrecker with the boom rating and the rigging to lift it. We run both, so you do not need to know which one you want before you call — describe the vehicle and where it is sitting, and we will send the truck that can actually move it.

What counts as heavy-duty towing?

Heavy-duty towing is towing for the heaviest road vehicles: semi tractors, tractor-trailers, loaded trailers, buses and coaches, dump trucks and equipment. They are beyond what a rollback flatbed can carry, so Titan Tow & Repair moves them with a heavy wrecker and rigging made for that weight. Box trucks, straight trucks and fleet vehicles are medium duty, and cars, pickups, vans and smaller RVs are light duty and ride a flatbed.

What is a heavy wrecker?

A heavy wrecker is a heavy-duty tow truck built around a boom at the rear that raises and extends, a set of winches, and an underlift that goes under a truck's front axle or frame to lift one end and tow it. It is the truck for semi tractors, loaded trailers, buses and equipment, including units that are stuck, jackknifed or rolled over. Titan Tow & Repair runs a heavy wrecker and a second heavy-duty tow unit from its yard in Liberty.

How fast can you get a heavy wrecker to me?

Usually within about 60 minutes for most of the metro, with a real ETA for your exact location on the phone rather than a guess. The wrecker leaves the Titan Tow & Repair yard in Liberty, and traffic, weather and exactly where you are sitting decide the real number.

Is there 24-hour heavy-duty towing near the Kansas City interstates?

Yes — 24-hour heavy-duty towing on the Kansas City interstates is most of what Titan Tow & Repair does. The yard sits in Liberty minutes from I-35, and we run the metro loop and the freight corridors that cross it around the clock: I-35, I-70, I-435, I-635, I-29 and US-71, every day including holidays. A person answers the phone at any hour, not a service taking messages, and dispatch starts while you are still describing the truck. Tell us the highway and mile marker first — on an interstate call that is the detail that matters most.

Do you tow on the Kansas side of Kansas City?

Yes. The state line runs through the middle of this metro and freight does not stop at it, so neither do we — Kansas City, Kansas and the Kansas side are inside our service area the same as the Missouri side, west on I-70 through Lawrence to Topeka and north through Leavenworth to Atchison. That takes in the interstates that cross over: I-70, I-435 and I-635. Tell us the highway and which side of the line you are sitting on when you call, because on a metro job that decides the approach more than the mileage does.

Do you tow hot shot trucks and gooseneck trailers?

Yes. Hot shots sit in an awkward gap — heavier and longer than a pickup, lighter than a class 8 tractor — and plenty of companies are set up for one end or the other but not the middle. We run both ends out of one yard, so a dually with a gooseneck or a flatbed rig gets the truck that actually suits it rather than whatever happens to be free. Tell us the trailer length and whether it is loaded; on a hot shot those two answers usually decide which unit comes out.

Do you do bus and motorcoach towing?

Yes. Buses and coaches are heavy-wrecker work and we handle them the same way as tractors — school buses, transit and motorcoaches included. It is one phone number whatever the vehicle, and telling us the length and rough weight is what lets us send the right truck the first time.
