Working the roads in Grundy County

US-65 is the backbone of Grundy County. It comes north from Chillicothe, passes the east side of Trenton, the county seat, runs through Tindall and carries on past Spickard toward the Mercer County line. Route 6 passes through the south side of Trenton, Route 146 serves Brimson in the west, and Routes 128, 139 and 190 round out the county's main highways. Lettered routes fill in the rest: Route C at Spickard, and Routes E and V meeting at Laredo, south-east of Trenton. From our Liberty yard the way in is through Chillicothe and north on US-65, so on that highway tell us whether you are south of Trenton, in town, or up toward Tindall and Spickard.

Water shapes the ground here. Trenton is built on the Thompson River floodplain, between the river on its west side and Muddy Creek on its east; the Weldon River runs past Tindall and Spickard; Medicine Creek flows along the east side of Laredo; and Sugar Creek skirts Brimson, with Crowder State Park to the south-east. Low ground beside those streams can stay soft well after rain, which can turn a straightforward tow into a winch-out. Trenton also has industry, including Modine Manufacturing's radiator plant, and a food plant there once made the city the world's largest producer of Vienna sausages. If a truck is down inside a plant yard, tell us which gate you came in by.

Towing service and heavy-duty recovery in Trenton, MO

Trenton is Grundy County's seat and sits on the Thompson River floodplain, with the river to the west and Muddy Creek to the east. US-65 skirts Trenton's east side, and Route 6 cuts through the south of town. The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad arrived in 1869, and North Central Missouri College, which began as Trenton Junior College, has its Barton Farm Campus directly south of town. Modine Manufacturing makes automobile radiators here.

Towing service and heavy-duty recovery in Spickard, MO

On the Weldon River in the north of the county, Spickard lies along Route C just west of US-65, a short way south of the Mercer County line. It started out as Spickardsville, platted in 1871 by G. A. Spickard, and the name was cut to Spickard in 1892. On US-65 up here, say whether you are nearer the town or the county line.

Towing service and heavy-duty recovery in Laredo, MO

Routes E and V meet at Laredo, south-east of Trenton, and Medicine Creek runs along the east side of town. The name is pronounced "la-read-oh," not the traditional way, and the Laredo R-VII district runs the elementary school here. Give the route letter you are on and which side of the Route E and Route V junction, and mention the creek if a vehicle has left the road on that side.

Towing service and heavy-duty recovery in Brimson, MO

Out on Route 146 north-west of Trenton, Brimson is a village near the Harrison County line, with Gilman City further west and Sugar Creek along its south side. Crowder State Park lies to the south-east. W. G. Brimson, a railroad official, gave the village its name when it was laid out in 1898. If you are towing a camper toward the park, say whether you are still on Route 146 or already inside Crowder.

Towing service and heavy-duty recovery in Tindall, MO

Strung along US-65 between Trenton to the south and Spickard to the north, Tindall has the Weldon River a short way to its west. The railroad's extension to this point in 1872 is what laid the town out, and it carries the name of Jacob A. Tindall, a Civil War officer. A truck stopped on US-65 here is easiest to find if you give your direction and say you are at Tindall.

What we can do for you here

Grundy County towing — common questions

Can a wrecker reach a camper or travel trailer stuck at Crowder State Park?

Yes, 24 hours a day. Titan Tow & Repair tows and winches out campers, travel trailers and the pickups pulling them, as well as cars and trucks. Crowder State Park lies between Brimson and Trenton, south-east of Brimson. Tell us whether the unit is on pavement, gravel or grass, whether it is still hitched, how long it is and which way you came into the park, so the right truck comes the first time.

Can you haul a disabled semi from Trenton to a Kansas City dealer or repair facility?

Yes. Titan Tow & Repair moves loaded and empty tractor-trailers with heavy wreckers, and the route back from Trenton runs US-65 south to Chillicothe, US-36 west to Cameron and I-35 south into the metro. Tell us the unit's weight, whether the trailer is loaded, where it has to go and whether the receiving facility is expecting it, so the run is planned before we leave Liberty. If the fault can be fixed at the roadside instead, our mobile service truck may save you the long tow.

Is Spickard, up by the Mercer County line, still inside your service area?

Yes. Titan Tow & Repair serves Spickard and the rest of Grundy County around the clock from its yard in Liberty, MO. Spickard sits on the Weldon River along Route C, just west of US-65 and a short way south of the Mercer County line, so a wrecker reaches it up US-65 through Trenton and Tindall. Give us your direction on US-65 or the street you are on in town, what you are driving and whether it will roll.
